my first purchase from this press and it did not disappoint! Such a beautiful book from one of the great authors

This book does not only contain one of the funniest and most underrated stories from on of the most famous Russian authors (and very well translated), but the book itself is simply a work of art. I recommend this book to anyone who has a passion for beautiful things. You can tell all of the work that the team put into making this story come alive in what is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful editions that is has ever been published in. Thank you to century press for helping make my shelves look and feel just that much nicer.

I am very impressed with the book. It is a very well made letterpress printed book. The quality of the leather and binding is excellent. I am looking forward to future titles by Century Press.

It is a real beautiful edition; the book’colour, the leather’s scent and texture, the letterpress pages, a work of art.

For the price, you get a goatskin binding, letterpress printing on quality cotton paper, 4 fitting illustrations, a scholarly and well written introduction, all this in a wonderful reading size. The short story itself is a great variation from themes explored in Dostoevsky’s more known works, and its humor is definitely enjoyable. A very good value, I can’t wait to see what’s next from the press!

I have all four books by this press and ‘The Crocodile’ took it to the next level! A great design combined with great execution. The endpapers are a wonderful feature that I hope stays around.

My first acquisition from Century Press, and it's a gem. Well translated and beautifully printed, illustrated, and bound, it's a delight from cover to cover. The special endpapers are a crocodilian treat as well! Keep up the fine work, looking forward to more like this.

I received my beautiful book today, the shipment to Norway being quite slow. But it was worth the wait. A great handmade production, very colourful end-papers indicating crocodile skin, again the fantastic touch of the letterpress, lovely leather binding, it is so clear that a lot of effort is behind this book. Lovely book!

I have no complaints with this book. The binding quality is what I expect. I really like the " crocodile skin " endpapers. Although totally unfamiliar with the title, I look forward to reading this book.

Another gorgeous Century Press addition to my collection! The craftsmanship is so beautiful and I love being able to show this work of art off!
